Life of a Mom, Life of Leigh / Sunday, September 23rd, 2018

Games have been played, cartoons have been watched and lunch has been eaten.  Then, you show up.  I look forward to your arrival every Saturday and Sunday.  You are the most welcomed weekend guest.  Your arrival brings about a peace that passes all understanding.  Quiet fills the air.  When you’re around I’m able to be productive.  Blog posts are written, edited and scheduled.  I get to read a few chapters of my latest book.  Or, catch up on my shows, if I so chose.

Thank you, naptime!

During the week we don’t get to see each other.  I’m sure the boys don’t miss you…but I do!  We only have a few hours until bedtime once everyone is home.  After homework, dinner and baths there isn’t much time left for us to enjoy you.  I never want there to be a time when you come to visit and aren’t able to live up to your fullest potential.  You are truly appreciated!  The time spent with you is what I look forward to the most.

Why does all our time together have to be on the weekend?  I dream of the day that I am at work and get a call from security that you are waiting for me in the lobby.  Just like two old friends, we would catch up for hours in my office with the door and blinds shut.  I’m also a much more productive employee in my dreams.

Even though you’re not able to visit me at work, there are there are those extra special days when I get to experience the peace you bring on the weekends as well.  I don’t know why the boys don’t embrace you with open arms immediately.  It takes them a little time to realize the benefits of your presence.  Not me!    I recognize how glorious it is to spend time with you immediately!  (Especially on Sunday!)

There will come a day when your visits will become less frequent.  The boys will get older and life will get busier.  Life happens that way.  Your current situation often dictates the role your friends play in your life.  But, don’t worry.  On those Sunday afternoons when all is calm in the world, you will be the first one I call.
