We love to eat and try new restaurants. It’s kind of our thing. And when we go out, we get appetizers (plural), drinks and then our main course. Then, we typically go to an ice cream spot nearby. Our dinners get expensive. Good food is worth it. But, the way our budget is setup, we cannot afford expensive date nights every time we go out. So, it is important for us to find quality date night experiences for half the cost. Here are a few cheap date night ideas that doesn’t include a walk on the beach.
1. Putt Putt Golf
This one is near and dear to our hearts. On our first date, we played putt putt golf. Its been an ongoing theme in our relationship. Now, every year we go on a weekend getaway for our anniversary and we always play putt putt. Wherever we go we find a local spot. This is a fun, interactive and cheap date. You an usually find a Groupon for any city’s “enter fun spot name here”.
2. Going out for dessert
If dinner for 2 is not in your budget, don’t let that stop you from dining out. Go to that same restaurant for dessert, and maybe a cup of coffee if that’s your thing. You get the experience of going out to a restaurant for half the price.
3. Happy Hour at Home
One night I surprised my hubby. The boys were in bed. I prepared a platter with fruit and cookies I had baked. Alongside some wine from Trader Joe’s because…class. Ok, the cookies probably didn’t fit but they had chocolate so I went with it. But, it was the thought and mood it created. We sat on the floor of our bedroom and talked. It was simply a good night. And…cheap! Unless you’ve been living under a rock you know that Trader Joe’s wine is cheap and delicious. So, on your next grocery haul, add a few items to have with hubby and plan a special night in.
