I am always looking for ways to save. Who isn’t?! Aren’t we always vowing to be better with money? Save more. Spend less. You have to be very intentional in your efforts. Here are the apps I use to help me.
1. Walmart Savings Catcher
Words cannot express how much I love this app! I made it #1 because it is truly my #1! The real MVP. It’s super easy to use and has saved me the most out of all the apps I use. I am at Walmart almost every Sunday shopping for our groceries for the week. (Check out my previous post here on how I feed my family without breaking the bank) After I finish shopping I quickly use my app and scan my receipt. You have a few days to enter your receipt but I don’t like to prolong my savings! Then, the little Walmart angels in my phone compare prices to the items on my receipt to other local stores. If any of the items were cheaper at another store those same angels credit my account with the difference. The savings just keep adding up. When I was pregnant with my last son I used my savings to purchase a new carseat! If I don’t have a special purchase to make I use all my savings from the year for some online Black Friday shopping. Another cool feature is the in-app ordering. Search for an item you’re looking for and add it to your cart with the click of a button! And, most items will be discounted if you chose the free “site-to-store” shipping option (which I always do!). Lastly, the app will show you if an item you are looking for is in stock, at which location and exactly where to find it in the store. Last fall I was on the hunt for Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte K-cups. These little cups of heaven were hard to find. So, I stalked my Walmart app. And when they were in stock in my local Walmart, I stocked up!
I could go on and on about how much I’ve saved using this app. If you’re not using it you are missing out!
If McDonalds is your guilty pleasure, you need this app in your life. I know everyone is eating healthy, organic, gluten-free, non-gmo, non-everything food. But, I cannot lie. We still eat McDonalds sometimes. And, when they added the nuggets Happy Meal to the $3 menu, Jesus smiled down on us! The McDonalds app will have special deals on menu items at your local McDonalds. All you have to do is enter your zip code. I have noticed that a lot of the deals are similar to the ones on the coupons that come in the weekly circulars. So, if you’re like me and always forget them at your house, this app is perfect for you.
3. Retail Me Not
There is not much you can’t save on using this app. Whenever I am out shopping, before I hit the checkout line, I do a quick search in my RetailMeNot app for whatever store I am in. Nine times out of ten, there is a coupon in the app. All I have to do is show the cashier and the deal is mine! Similar to the McDonald’s app, I have found that that a lot of the discounts in the app are the same as the ones on the stores’ websites. So again, if you’re like me and never print those coupons, this app s for you.
4. Target Cartwheel App
The mecca of all mommy-me-time spots! If you are not using this app you need to get your life together and download it immediately. After perusing the dollar spot and sipping your star-beezy, keep your phone close by. With the Cartwheel app you simply scan an item to see if there is currently a deal on the app. If it is, the app automatically applies that deal to your wallet. If there is not a deal on that item you will be notified if there is anoter deal on a similar item. There is really no excuse to not use this app! Then, when you’re all ready to checkout simply present your Cartwheel app to the cashier. You can truly expect more and pay less! I always feel a little joy inside as I watch my total go down. And, if you have a Target Red Card, you can upload the card information into your app. Then, when the cashier scans your phone, that’s it. You have saved and paid at the same time.
Now, I will be honest. I really only use the Walgreens app for one thing and that’s the photo feature. I have found myself in the need of a printed picture in a short time frame. Kids projects for school, visiting family who do not have a picture of the kids, last minute birthday party invitations…you name it! This app allows me to submit that order with the click of a button. And, I can select which location I want to pick up my order from. I know there are other features on the app and I’m sure there are wonderful. But I am here for the pictures! PLUS! (*in my Olivia voice* Shout out to the REAL Cosby Show fans.) Walgreens ALWAYS has a photo coupon code on their site. Convenient and cheap?! Sign me up every time!
